Do you remember the famous Bill Murray Movie “Groundhog Day? Where the character Phil who originally was a self-centered weatherman who had difficulties with people. He was frustrating to be around. 


Every day repeated with Phil experiencing the same rerun day with conflicts and annoying everyone around him until he shifted his relationship strategies. And most of all how he showed up for himself and with people.  

Phil had to learn people skills and how to advance relationships where others could feel his authentic interest in them. Once Phil added value to the lives of the people around him, he became masterful at creating mutually satisfying relationships. And he moved people to be his raving fans and was seen as a value in the community and his workplace. Even Phil’s coworker Rita, who originally loathed him, fell in love with him.


You may have a little bit of “Phil” inside of you. Where you sit in your “relationship-comfortable-zone” and struggle with your patterns with people.  


Some of you may find yourself running away from people because you don’t feel eloquent in respectfully disagreeing with others or you feel people are cutthroat unless you are pleasing them, or you feel plagued because of not being quick on your feet with people and need time to think how to respond.   

Others may find themselves as having a firm personality yet feel misunderstood because of needing to manage the dimmer switch on your emotions and tonality of your words. If someone at work, home or in life gets triggered and begins yelling at you, your volume goes up and all hell breaks loose where everyone is defensive, and you lack mindfulness of your facial expressions that are all telling.


Several of you may need clarity when drawing boundaries with people. Where you need to decide where you start and stop and where others start and stop. Where are you wondering what you should be telling yourself or others to define those boundaries? And how do you communicate without sounding self-centered and egocentric.    

No matter how you define your struggles with people, and how you have attempted to shift, solve or avoid contact with others until you must, you may be rinsing and repeating a “new version of the same” which gets you caught up in your own personalized Groundhog Day!!

You deserve to have peace, vitality and to have powerful relationship skills to live, work and play to create new possibilities. This comes with a sound spiritual, emotional and conscious life to have better routines with yourself and others.  

You may be like many who have subscribed to Shelf-Help, Self-Help, Free-Help, or Mental-Health and overlooked this.

Shelf-help is like subscribing to paid tv networks and flipping through the stations. You have access to tons of content yet don’t ever engage. The programs are available yet are unused. And this is unhelpful.

Self-Help - You gather all kinds of knowledge through many kinds of personal growth practices, books, webinar and seminar jumping, meditation, life-coaches etc.  Hoping more knowledge will be your answer!!

Free-Help is where you post your problems on popular social platforms such as Facebook to solicit everyone and anyone into your situation to seek validation agreements that show your right and someone else is wrong.  

A lot of the time you feel worse and have compounded frustrations as though something needs to be fixed within you. So, you try a traditional Mental-Health therapist who takes insurance and diagnoses you to place you into a treatment plan.  The process takes years of your time and energy taking about the same. Progress is slow, yet insurance is paying for it and working on it.

All the scenarios above feel a lot like Groundhog Day, don’t they?

Here is something you may not want to hear, and you may have a little resistance.

Until you learn to make a few simple yet overlooked shifts in your thought and emotional life and communication approach with people (that I promise to teach you), Groundhog Day will continue leaving you to work harder with people.  And putting off what needs to be done.   While leaving you unconsciously feeling not good enough, with inner unproductive overwhelming dialogue.
